Dear Wareham Families,

It’s hard to believe that this Sunday will be the 40th time that the Wareham High School DECA Club has hosted their annual dinner and auction. For an event to last four decades, is a tremendous accomplishment. This is a testament to the continued commitment of those involved in the organization throughout that long span of time. Although over the past forty years the faculty has changed, and certainly the students, but what has not waivered, is an understanding of the importance of DECA in the Wareham community.

DECA is a program at WHS that enables students to learn and practically apply key business skills and strategies, such as marketing, negotiation, and making sales pitches. Students compete locally, regionally, state-wide, and at international competitions. Our Wareham students often return home with awards from competitions, but more importantly, they all return home with valuable knowledge, skill sets, and experiences that will serve them well in higher education and in the work force.

DECA students run several fundraisers throughout the year to help offset the cost of their participation in competitions. The 40th annual DECA Dinner and Auction will be held on Sunday, May 19 in the WHS Cafeteria from 5:00-10:00 PM. Dinner will be baked stuffed chicken with green beans and rice pilaf, catered by Minkle Boys Catering. Tickets are $5 donation pre-sale, and $7 at the door. We hope you consider supporting our DECA students and attending this fun-filled event.

Best wishes for a wonderful weekend.

Sincerely,

Dr. Kimberly Shaver-Hood
