Dear Wareham Families,

Each day, faculty and staff at the John W. Decas School implement Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS), and it has truly become part of the fabric of the school. PBIS is a strengths-based model that encourages positive behaviors and concentrates on the prevention of negative ones. Decas has a PBIS team of staff who have been trained in the model and who help lead PBIS initiatives in the school for both students and colleagues. Some of the core components of the program include: high expectations, direct behavioral instruction, the establishment and regulation of routines, and recognition systems. At the Decas School, these features have helped add a new layer to the positive culture and climate within the school. Please enjoy the video in the link below that highlights some of the innovative ways in which Decas teachers are implementing the components of the PBIS model:

Best wishes for a wonderful weekend.
