  • Welcome Back Letter

    Posted by Mrs. Seamans on 8/7/2018 3:00:00 PM
    Dear Minot Forest Families:
    Welcome back! With the arrival of August, we are preparing for the start of school. Our things have been moved into the D Corridor of the Middle School and teachers have started coming in to set up their classroom. The custodians have done a great job getting the rooms cleaned. We are very fortunate that grades 3 and 4 are able to be kept together. Included in this letter is important information. The first day of school is August 29, 2018 for grades 1-12. The hours for Minot Forest students are 8:20 AM-2:40 PM. This letter will be mailed home during the week of August 13 and will contain your child’s homeroom teacher and room number.
    Students are assigned to a two teacher team. The teacher teams this year are as follows:
    Grade 3: Ms. Conlon/Mrs. (Jacqui) DeGrace;
    Mrs. Cardoso/Mrs. Fitzgerald;
    Ms. Johnson/Mrs. Letourneau; Mrs.Martins/Miss Drinkwater.
    Grade 4: Mrs. (Janesssa) DeGrace/Mrs. Snider;
    Miss Nash/Mrs. Miller; Mr. Houdlette/Mrs. Potter/Teixeira;
    Mrs. Panzone/Mrs. Bergamini.
    There are many variables we have to consider when assigning students to classes. We took into consideration any information that families submitted in May. Therefore, class placements are final and cannot be changed.
    There will be a Back to School night sponsored by the PTA on August 27, 2018 from 5:30 PM-7:00 PM. Students can come and see where their classroom will be. This helps relieve the first day anxiety by knowing how to get to his/her classroom. This also will be the same night and time for Decas so families can visit both schools. Teachers will not be there that evening. You can meet your child’s teachers at Minot Forest’s Open House on September 6, 2018.
    ALL students who are riding a school bus (regular or van) should have submitted a bus registration form. Without this form, students will not be scheduled to be picked up. If you need your child picked up or dropped off at a different address due to daycare, 5 days a week, you should have also submitted a bus variance form after completing the original bus registration form. Student arrival is from 8:20-8:30. Students are tardy after 8:30. If they arrive by bus, the regular buses will pull into the front of the school and unload. Smaller vans will unload next to the ball field. If you are dropping your child off, you will enter the Town Hall parking lot, enter the oval by the auditorium door #9, your child will exit the car and you will drive away. The morning is a drop and go. Due to several cars expected, please be sure your child is ready to exit the car as soon as you stop. Any child who is walking to school should come down Viking Drive and enter through the front door.
    Student dismissal is at 2:40 PM. Students who are taking the regular bus will board from the front of the school. Students who ride the smaller vans will board beside the ball field. If you are picking up your child, you will park in the Town Hall parking lot and walk to the glass doors by the auditorium door # 8. Please bring your photo identification in with you every day (license or MA ID card). Grade 3 students will be in the Dean of Student’s room and grade 4 students will be in room 130 near the auditorium. You will sign your child out with duty staff.
    If you are dropping off your child late, please have a note explaining why he/she is tardy. You can bring him/her to the main office location by the front of the building. Attendance will be closely monitored throughout the year. If you are picking your child up early, you will come into the main office location. Please bring photo identification (license or MA ID card) with you every time.
    Please call the school in the morning if your child is going to be out sick. If your child has a medical appointment, please bring in a note from the doctor/medical provider’s office so the absence can be marked excused. Absences without a medical note will be marked unexcused.
    Mrs. Robin Murphy will be our full time Assistant Principal and Mrs. Sandi Ponte will work part time for Minot and part time for Middle. To reach the school, you will still use 508-291-3555. Our fax number will remain 508-291-3529. If you are on Facebook, please join the Minot Forest Elementary Facebook page. I post many updates there.
    We all look forward to a great year in our school within a school.
    Joan Seamans Principal
    Robin Murphy Assistant Principal
    Sandi Ponte Assistant Principal
