Matt Stanton, Semifinalist for the 2024 Massachusetts Teacher of the Year Award
Congratulations to Matthew Stanton, a JROTC/history teacher at Wareham High School for being named as a semifinalist for the 2024 Massachusetts Teacher of the Year Award. Matt is a dynamic teacher who infuses technology and real-life scenarios into his lessons. His classes are always highly requested by our student body. He teaches every level of courses including courses at the International Baccalaureate, Advance Placement, College Prep, 8th grade leadership elective and JROTC classes.
Beyond the classroom Matthew Stanton is also the Key Club advisor and his students have committed thousands of hours in community service to the town and community. They have been recognized regionally and at the national level for their endeavors. As a JROTC instructor Matthew Stanton has his students involved in a community endeavor just about every weekend. Anytime there is a tragedy locally, nationally or internationally Matthew Stanton and his students step up.
Matthew Stanton has been the advisor to our Global Education Club, in this capacity he has organized many events locally and has organized multiple international trips. This has always been well attended by our students and provides them with a learning opportunity they never forget. We wish Matthew Stanton good luck as he moves on to the finalist round for the 2024 Massachusetts Teacher of the Year Award.
Host Family Needed
PSE (Private and Public School Exchange) is looking for a loving host family for an Italian female student that will attend Wareham High School as a senior for the first semester only of the '23-'24 school year. The monthly stipend is $800. The student comes with her own spending money and health insurance. We ask the host family to provide a bedroom/place to study and three meals per day. Any meals eaten outside the home are paid for by the student. There is a local person in the community that supports the student and the host family. It is a wonderful way to bring a great cultural exchange within your own family! Please contact Cheryl Da Silva PSE Regional Manager 617-710-5700 orcdasilva@pse-edu.org
