Wareham Public School students (k-12) have been given the opportunity to take an active part in global education by participating in this Global Education Project to collect school supplies for students in Cape Verde. Since the Wareham Public Schools have been building relationships with two schools in Santa Cruz, they have been made aware of the great need for learning materials in these schools. Therefore, a drive was set up to collect school supplies which began at the Cape Verdean Festival, August 13, 2011. The drive is continuing through the month of September so all students and their families, community members, and businesses can make contributions until then. All school materials collected will be sent to Cape Verde this fall in order for the schools to use them in the 2011-2012 school year.
