Lunch at the Decas School

Lunch at the Decas School is a time when students are encouraged to socialize in a positive way and can earn an award for best behavior while having lunch.

Each class has a group name that is inspired by the science program. One science poster goes on each classroom’s table in the cafeteria. Each poster has fun facts to read about from the new science program.

Ideas that students can think about during lunch

Social skills help us to communicate in a positive way. We can use quiet, indoor voices in our cafeteria the same way people do in a restaurant.

We can use polite language and manners while eating.

We can wait patiently in line. The cafeteria staff is working hard to get us through the line.

Spills are a big safety problem in the cafeteria.

We will try to hold our tray level, watch where we are going, and not run!

We will be responsible for our own table and check to make sure it is cleaned up for the next group.

Three points = One Box

Three points equals one box on the chart. Before line-up time, the class that has three points will get a box filled in on the whiteboard. If there are only 1 or 2 points, then no box. If at line-up time the classes are noisy they can lose a point and therefore, lose a box.
At the end of four weeks the class with the most number of boxes qualifies for the Fine Dining Award.
