Cheryl Scannell along with local artist Pam Rainey and a group of Art students from the Wareham Cooperative JR/SR High School recently completed a mural on the back of the boys and girls club. The theme is “Our Wareham Water Heritage.” The mural depicts Wareham being the gateway Cape Cod and Buzzards Bay.

Students from the Wareham Cooperative JR/SR High School finished their first session of their Community Service Learning program. Included in this was building a green house to produce vegetables for local food pantries, building an irrigation system for the lawn, gardens and the greenhouse around the school, refurbishing a shed to store all of the outside tools, building picnic tables for students to eat lunch outside, building planters and painting to beatify the property.

Students from the Wareham Cooperative JR/SR High School are now involved in Community Service Learning with local business including the Community Resource Network, Everett Educational Center, Gateway Adult Center, Tremont Nursing Home, Wareham Boys and Girls Club, Wareham Community Television, Wareham Free Library, Wareham Family Planning and Wareham Town Hall Maintenance.

The inmates will speak to the students about the dangers of substance abuse and about poor decision making. This program is part of the health and wellness program at the Wareham Cooperative School.
