Return to Curriculum & Instruction

The Instructional Leadership Team (ILT) is a district wide team composed of representative teachers from every school and every level in the district and the district wide technology integration coordinator/curriculum leader. These professionals are experienced educators in the areas of literacy (English language arts), mathematics, science and technology. The ILT works directly with the Director of Curriculum & Instruction to plan professional development activities, to coordinate instructional strategies and interventions, and to lead the analysis of assessment data to adjust instruction to meet students’ needs. The ILT also provides specific training for their colleagues in their respective schools, as requested by teachers and administrators and as needed based on the data analysis.

The ILT serves as a teacher advisory committee for the Director of Curriculum & Instruction. They gather information from their colleagues to bring to the discussion of professional development, appropriate instruction and instructional interventions, and assessment, both summative and formative. With the Director, the ILT surveys data and anecdotal evidence to determine needs of teachers and staff in the district. The ILT also analyzes data and assessment results with the Director to map long and short-term plans for the district’s instructional focus.

The Instructional Leadership Team assists the Director of Curriculum & Instruction in the review of curriculum materials and textbooks. With the collaboration of the ILT members, all teachers’ have a voice in the selection of new textbooks as well as the procurement of supplemental materials determined to be necessary for effective instruction and students’ achievement.
